Another month has passed. Today is the perfect time for evaluating your performance and creating a new individual growth plan! Self-evaluations can be overwhelming. It’s a delicate balance between not bragging, keeping it honest, and representing your true self. Below are some tips to help you master the end-of-year self-evaluation process!
Toot Your Horn
A self-evaluation is your chance to show your company that you take your career growth seriously. Use this time to reflect on all that you accomplished this year! Think about things you could have executed better and what skills you could expand on to do better next year. Take ownership of your performance. You probably perform job duties above and beyond, and your boss doesn’t even know you do! Now is the one time a year when you should tell your supervisor everything you do to help the company achieve more! Shine a spotlight on all of your achievements so your management is aware of all that you do!
Strengthen Your Relationships.
Communication is key to a successful relationship between an employee and a supervisor. Speak openly and honestly, and build rapport within your leadership. Focusing on this will help you work more effectively in the future. Ask your leadership for feedback or to help you find a mentor. Being open to growth will help you become more invested and happier in your work life. It will also give you the chance to be on the same page regarding your performance and open the door to strengthening your relationships.
There is No End Game With Self-Improvement.
Self-improvement is an ongoing process—it never stops! We can continually do better or try new things to learn to improve our work environment. Using this time to reflect on daily tasks and think about more effective and efficient ways will keep you moving towards your goals. Think about measurable ways to grow next year and get a head start on creating your development plan for 2021!
